The easiest would be to experience it. But if you have not had the opportunity yet, we will try to explain it.
If you have never heard of Virtual Reality:
Imagine it almost like a movie that is not happening on a screen in front of you but everywhere around you. And, unlike a movie, you can choose with your actions, how the story develops, you can choose where you want to go to and how you want to interact with everything around you. It is like real life - just that it is not real. So, you can do and experience anything you want. You can visit places and do things that would not be possible in real life, like flying like an eagle, travel to Mars or lift huge boulders with your bare hands…
A bit more sophisticated definition:
Virtual reality is a technology that lets you experience anything, anywhere at anytime. It convinces the human brain that the body is somewhere else, doing something that it is not doing in reality, to an extend that is able to trigger physiological responses and "rewire" our brain. Virtual reality aims to achieve full immersion - the state when our sensory experience feels so real that we forget that everything around us is an artificial-virtual world and we start to interact with it as it would be a real world.
A well-known example for a fully immersive world of virtual reality is the Matrix movie.
Various devices like helmets with displays, glasses, headsets, gloves with sensors and haptic suits - are used to move you into the virtual reality. The most famous headsets are HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream and Oculus Go.
For everything - well, except meeting your physical needs. Education, sports, entertainment, culture, travel, promotion and sales of products and services, meetings, trainings, meeting friends, visualization, simulation, meditation etc. Actually, almost everything you can think of is possible in virtual reality.
Some things, of course, are more useful than others and sometimes we are still facing the limits of technology. However, in some areas, such as employee training, it is already verified that virtual reality works better than other techniques used so far. Some things would not even be possible without virtual reality, like for example learning how to securely repair a nuclear reactor, going through your new home long before it is built, visiting Mars or diving miles below the sea surface.
Hard to say. It's like building a house. It's hard to estimate how much a house will cost until you have an idea how it looks like. It can be 10.000 EUR, 100.000 EUR, 1.000.000 EUR or more.
The development of virtual reality is very similar to a development of computer games. Depending on the assignment, a substantial portion of the budget usually falls on the salaries of developers, graphic designers, animators, project managers, etc. - so, human resources. A second part of the budget usually goes to hardware that can be bought or leased. And sometimes you need to count in licenses, artistic fees, service fees, etc.
Well, we can help you with everything concerning virtual reality. We do not claim to know everything to the last detail, but we are present at the international VR scene. So, if we do not consider ourselves experienced enough for a specific task, we are able to connect you with someone who has the expertise or we can cooperate with him or her. We are acquainted with, and regularly meet people who are the most successful in virtual reality worldwide.
